Thank you Black Restaurant Week for giving me that extra push to finally go to this place!
I mean if you drive on Keystone and Fall Creek you have probably seen this place. You can't miss it. It is bright and always seems full of life. You have probably thought to yourself "I need to try that place." Take the time to actually stop and go inside because it is exactly like that.
The inside is bright and full of energy. The music is pumping and people LOOK happy!
I had the jerk chicken which came with rice and a slaw of some sort and plantains. MY GOSH! Freakin fantastic!! I kicked myself for waiting so long to stop by. The portion sizes are big, I had to take a to-go box home.
As far as drinks, I was happy to see that they had sodas and other beverages that I have never seen before. I am assuming they are from Jamaica. I didn't get any; but I was glad to see variety. I actually took an iced tea from a local vendor and it was sooooo good. They also carry a beer.
When I left, I understood why this place always has a lot full of cars and why the people inside seem so happy. -

Without a doubt, this place has the most authentic West Indian vibe in Indy. It is just 20 feet away from Keystone, but you feel transported ... the music, decor, artwork, and chillness.
And then there's the food. They have daily specials that include generous portions of meats or fish plus rice and peas, cabbage, and plantains. I'm a big fan of the brown stew, chicken fricasse, and - gasp - jerk pot roast?
The jerk chicken is excellent. There are three options - mild, medium, and spicy - and I only get spicy, but it's just the right amount of heat. You must go with the dark meat and when the beautifully-charred chicken comes to you, the chicken falls off the bone.
The seafood is also delicious and meant for sharing. Can't wait to come back and watch some cricket! -

This is a cool bit of the islands in Indy.
There are cool sounds playing over the speakers and the place is done up in bright colors.
Order from the counter and have a seat. They will bring your food to you.
The curried goat was quite good. Also, don't miss out on the Jamaican patties -

We're not experts on Jamaican food, so I feel like I'm not the best reviewer on the subject.
However, we enjoyed our food, we weren't completely blown away with it, but we were satisfied.
I don't rate restaurants based on ambiance, I feel like yelp should have separate ratings on that. Although I can tell you that the space has a fun feel and it's really clean in there!
We enjoyed the jerk chicken the most with the hot sauce. We tried sweet and hot, and hot was the winner by far! It's not too hot either, definitely does not detract from the flavor like some heat can.
The pot roast is good, and definitely compliments the beans and rice (which is a bit dry for my taste, but the pot roast makes it super yummy).
Both dishes came with rice/beans, cabbage salad, and plantain. The cabbage salad side was good, but nothing I'm writing home about. The plantain was good.
The chicken is the star this trip!
We determined that we will be back, to try the fish (which takes longer).
Hopefully I can widen my Jamaican repertoire, and give some expert advice in future reviews.
Until then, I'd say this place is worth a shot if you're trying out new places. -

This was my first time at this place. I went with a friend for dinner on a weekday. The chicken was so tender and delicious! I ended up ordering extra cabbage and plantains. They kept checking on us while we were eating, even though it was not your typical dining more like pay and sit kind of place. They only had booster seats, no high chairs. It worked but I like high chairs better.
